Katherin "Ann" Larkin beloved mother of Eric and Brenda, loving Grandmother of Brittney and Kyra died peacefully August 21, 2018 in Escondido, California.
Ann, daughter of James and Bertha Larkin , was born on the island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii on October 5th, 1944 and grew up in Spokane, Washington. After graduating High School, Ann headed for the bright lights and big city of Los Angeles, California where she quickly rose to the top of her field serving as executive secretary to the president of Atlantic Richfield (ARCO), subsequently British Petroleum (BP).
Following a nearly 30 year career Ann realized her long held dream of opening her own fashion and jewelry boutique, "Ann of Magnolia" in Burbank California. Her clientele included actresses from nearby Hollywood and Burbank studios who eagerly sought out her one-of-a-kind designs and unique styles. Ann delighted in charming and entertaining her customers which was a great pride and joy. Ann's store and even her personality (as, boutique owner "Vera" played by Georgia Engel) were immortalized in the 2002 film, "The Sweetest Thing" starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Appelgate and Selma Blair.
She will always be remembered for her caring and genuine concern for others, generosity strength and courage in the face of adversity following her affliction with Parkinson's. She had a keen intellect full of curiosity, an incredible sense of humor, and love of music, books and topics of all manner.
Ann had a deep love for her family and friends and in return they gave her unwavering companionship and support that nourished her throughout her lifetime. Ann is survived by her beloved daughter Brenda and son Eric as well as granddaughters Brittney and Kyra.
A private Memorial celebrating Ann's amazing life was held on Nov 11th 2018 at the Harbor House Restaurant, Seaport Village San Diego, California. Memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson’s Association of San Diego
